about

(2003) Les Couleurs du Diable by Rob Hauser
Les Couleurs du Diable is a four-part instrumental composition written for saxophone orchestra and blues harp. This music has been inspired by paintings of the artist René Frese whose work is about “people manipulation”. The piece borrows from Black music: Blues, Gospels and slave songs. The score mirrors the conflictual thoughts of human beings when confronted with suppressive powers. The saxophone Orchestra is assimilated as the power of the power of the group and its violence, the blues harp is seen as the individual searching for his own truth. The piece is written as a fight.
